New Application TimeZones

This is an announcement of a brand new application to RISC OS called TimeZones.

TimeZones gets information about various time zones from around the world and if they are in day light saving time, informs you when then start and finish daylight savings time. The difference between that time zone and GMT as well display the local time.

It requires a working internet connection and wget to work, with the data coming from the the World Time API site.

Validate That VAT or GST Number

I have released a new application to validate Value Added Tax and General Sales Tax Numbers called VATGST.

Just enter the VAT or GST number and hit the OK button and after a short while you will get the results, as can be seen in the screenshot below.

You can save the information as a text file.

I have also uploaded a short YouTube video of it in action.

This application requires a working internet connection and Curl to work, plus an API key from VAT Sense.

The reason for an API key is that the free account allows 100 calls per 30 day period.

This is my first application using Curl.

Future plans for this application is for more formats to save the address.

Multi Stations Comes To TrainTimes

My UK train timetable application TrainTimes has been updated and uploaded to version 1.12

New in this version is a couple of bug fixes and a new feature

One bug fix is that when we are in October I for some strange reason had October having 30 days instead of 31 in the calendar window.

The other bug fix is that also in the calendar window when selecting the month of September would cause a crash.

The new feature is the ability to add and view more stations through the Multi Stations option.

There is a short YouTube video of the new features in action.

This application requires a working internet connection and Wget to work.

The data comes from the Transport API site.

Viewing problems is done by entering a UK postcode which then displays up to 10 latest reports and by clicking on the description opens up a web browser to that reports page on  FixMyStreet the data comes from.

Clicking on Report a Problem opens a web browser on the FixMyStreet reporting page which will send that report to the correct local authority.

This application requires a working internet connection and Wget  to work.

Catch That Bus

I have released a new application called BusTimes which very much like TrainTimes  gives the bus times for a particular bus stop, instead of train times.

bus1

It displays upto ten busses for that stop, and the bus timetable for that bus.

bus2

You need to supply the ATCOCDE for that bus stop, but no need to worry as the application can find the code from the longitude and latitude, don’t panic if you don’t have that as the application can get the longitude and latitude from the post code.

The application requires Wget  and a working internet connection, with the information coming from Transport API  site.

More Trains On TrainTimes

My train time table application TrainTimes  has been updated to potentially show the times of up to 30 trains.

If their is more than 10 trains a button is displayed allowing up to another 10 trains and if over 20 trains 2 buttons are available.

The buttons are called page 2 and page 3 also another button is available called refresh which redownloads the time table.

Will It Be Sunny Or Not Find Out With Kweather

hI have released  a new application  called Kweather  a weather application for over 200.000 locations around the world.

It gives the current and forecast weather for a 24 hour period with choices for imperial and metric measurements.

One point  to note  I think the times are GMT but I could  be mistaken,  as I’m  in England  the server could  be delivering  the times  as UK time.

It requires Wget  a working internet connection and an API key from the Open Weather  website.
